Details of the Response

1. Does each of the hospitals within your Trust have a ‘Declaration of Interests’ Register with information on all types of payments from pharmaceutical companies to Health Care Professionals working at the hospitals?

The Trust has a Gifts and Hospitality policy and a Register of Interests policy. A Register is held for all gifts, hospitality or interests which are declared by staff working at the Trust. The Gifts and Hospitality Policy defines the nature of acceptable and non-acceptable hospitality and gifts which include any personal business expense which is paid for by a third party (e.g. where a drug company pays for a clinician to attend a conference or other educational event, whether directly or indirectly or by reimbursement to the clinician. These costs are personal business expenses, not a form of remuneration.)

2. If there is a ‘Declarations of Interests’ Register, are those declarations voluntary or mandated by your Trust or the individual hospitals?

The Gifts and Hospitality policy and a Register of Interests policy apply to all staff.

3. Are the Registers (if they exist) accessible to the public? If yes, where?

The Register of Interests for the Trust Board is presented at the Open Board every six months. All open Board papers are held on our website to ensure accessibility to the public. The last Register was presented in November 2013. The agenda and papers can be accessed via this link.

The Register of Gifts and Hospitality received is not accessible to the public as it is not presented at Trust Board or held on our website.

4. What is the overall budget allocated by your Trust or the individual hospitals within your Trust for the Continuing Professional Development for all qualified doctors? (Please do not include Study Leave budgets.)

The Trust does not hold this data.
