1. Does your Trust have a specific protocol in place for staff working with patients who have experienced strangulation? If yes please attach a copy of this protocol.

No

 

2. Does your Trust have in place a training programme for health staff working with victims of domestic violence and abuse? If yes is this an in house or external programme? If yes please supply a copy of the training programme, its objectives and how long this training lasts.

Domestic Abuse outlined management in the ASPH <a href="https://www.ashfordstpeters.info/patient-care/910-safeguarding-adults-policy">Safeguarding Adult Policy</a>; also on Mandatory training. Additional external training provision is being delivered by the Sanctuary in March, May, October 2014 directly to A&E staff for one hour. Draft Domestic Abuse pathway in place developed in collaboration with MARAC. Safeguarding Adult lead attends MARAC for sharing of intelligence. At risk persons identified are flagged on PAS either via MARAC alert or A&E alert and shared with Adult Safeguarding lead. Multi-agency working.

No, however protocols are outlined in Safeguarding Adult policy and discussed at Mandatory training. GUM clinic has its own internal procedures ratified divisionally. This will, to some extent, be covered in the Sanctuary training.

No. However a Datix Incident Report that will show actions, investigation etc. from other injury.

Draft Domestic Abuse Pathway. A decision not to use dash tool was discussed with MARAC and A&E lead in January 2014 however a simpler tool to evidence base practice will be developed. As defined in Pathway all DA to be referred to MARAC who will triage if they are to take over care management or refer to other agencies.

3 Adults + 1 adult who had young children - MARAC which covers all areas of Surrey.

The Trust has not referred any children where strangulation was a feature of the violence or abuse.
