I would like to know all information available in connection with the recycling of date expired x-ray film.

  • Amount of film that is in storage? On site or off site?
     
  • What storage company is used to store the Film, if any?
     
  • If Purging (culling) of the film is done, how often and at what time of year?
     
  • When was the last time a purge was done?
     
  • What company was used to recycle the x-rays?
     
  • What rebates did the Trust receive from the silver extraction from these x-rays?
     
  • When did the hospitals within your trust go digital in regards to the imaging departments?
     
  • Who is in charge of the x-ray archives within the Trust (even when stored at a third party facility)?
     
  • If the x-ray archives are stored with a third party, when is that contract for storage up for tender?

1. Amount of film that is in storage? On site or off site?

The Trust does not hold this information. However a survey has been undertaken and the result is expected within the next month.

 

2. What storage company is used to store the Film, if any?

None

 

3. If Purging (culling) of the film is done, how often and at what time of year?

Once a year, during quarter 4 (Jan-Mar)

 

4. When was the last time a purge was done?

In process (Due to be completed 31st March 2014)

 

5. What company was used to recycle the x-rays?

Industrial Material Recycling Ltd

 

6. What rebates did the Trust receive from the silver extraction from these x-rays?

In 2013 - £1,060 for 1.5 nett tonnes of x-ray film. No record before this date as regular culling started in 2013.

 

7. When did the hospitals within your trust go digital in regards to the imaging departments?

March 2006

 

8. Who is in charge of the x-ray archives within the Trust (even when stored at a third party facility)?

Imaging Operations Manager, Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals.

 

9. If the x-ray archives are stored with a third party, when is that contract for storage up for tender?
