The antenatal and labour wards unit was fully staffed during the day except on Thursday 4th October 12 when the unit worked with one midwife short. On the night duty of 6th and 7th October 2012 the unit worked with one short on both nights.

 

9. How many midwives were working from the bank or agency on each day.

The Trust does not use agency staff and any bank staff used to cover shifts, are our own contracted midwives doing extra hours.

The Antenatal and labour wards unit relied on bank staff to cover the following:

  • 1st October: 1 bank on early shift and 1 bank on late shift
  • 2nd October: 1 bank on late shift
  • 3rd October: 1 bank on early shift and 1 bank on late shift
  • 4th October: 1 bank on early shift, 1 bank on late shift and 1 bank on night shift
  • 5th October: 1 bank on early shift and 2 bank staff on the late shift
  • 6th October: 1 bank on night shift
  • 7th October: 1 bank on night shift
