During 2004/05 Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals achieved all its key access targets under the NHS Plan including a further reduction in waiting lists.

No one on waiting lists has to wait longer than nine months and most waiting lists are at 6 months or below.

This is despite an increased number of attendances at A&E (up from 101,743 to 107,603); an increased number of emergency admissions (up from 26,654 to 27,574; and an increased number of in-patients being cared for (up from 65,281 to 65,513). Due to the increases in these areas a number operations have been cancelled but plans have been developed to address this problem and it is being reviewed weekly. The Trust is required to have no one waiting longer than 6 months by December 2005.
