Jacky Bush, responsible for major incident planning at Ashford and St. Peter’s Hospitals, commented:

“Although the local health service was not put on major incident standby, staff made arrangements to receive patients from London hospitals where space was needed to treat those directly affected by these terrible attacks. Working with colleagues in Social Services, the community hospitals and primary care, beds were freed up locally to receive a handful of local people who were being treated in London.

Arrangements were made to keep the NHS Walk In Centres at Woking, Walton and Weybridge open in case people on their way home from work needed any care.”
