Introduction

In the event of a biological incident the Counter Measures Plan (CMP) will be used to enable urgent dispensing of prophylactic medications. The CMP sets out the requirement for the set up of an Antibiotic Collection Centre (ACC) in the event of a biological incident. Many people will be highly anxious about the health of their family and for their own health. Staff monitoring the centres may also be anxious. Set up of an ACC will usually be required at short notice and will be part of a co-ordinated response to a Major Incident (MI).

This Plan is designed to assist key staff in the identification and pre-planning process of setting up and running an (ACC). It is not prescriptive and may need to be adapted to meet individual circumstances; requiring dynamic risk assessment in order to ensure a coordinated response.
