Aim and Purpose
This policy applies to all employees who are employed on Agenda for Change terms and conditions. This policy is not applicable to Medical Staff for whom separate provisions apply.
To provide a framework for managers and staff in relation to the taking of annual leave and to ensure that staff are treated fairly and consistently in relation to leave while ensuring service provision.
Duties
Member of staff
- to request leave within appropriate timescales
- to notify their line manager when their length of service increases which requires an adjustment in their annual leave
Manager
- to ensure that staff are enabled to take leave taking into account the needs of the service
- to ensure that departmental guidance which enhances this policy is clearly laid down and communicated to staff
- to maintain records of leave
- to report staff leave on ESR self-service / healthroster
Human Resources
- to advise on the application of this policy ensuring fairness and consistency
- to update this policy
Payroll
- to maintain accurate records of staff leave within the Trust
- to ensure that appropriate payments are made to staff who are on leave
- to provide advice on the effects on pension entitlements
