Increasingly employees are working in teams across organisations for the benefit of patients. Staff actions are covered by NHS indemnity when they are working appropriately within their contract of employment. Where staff work on the premises of other partner organisations there needs to be clarity about the management lines and responsibility for indemnity.
The aim of this policy is to define lines of responsibility and accountability for:
- Trust employees who undertake work on the premises of other partner organisations
- Individuals who work in the Trust but who are not employees of the Trust
This policy also aims to define with whom the responsibility lays for provision of indemnity in terms of clinical negligence. Individual cases may require checking with the lead employer.
